RIG Responds To Lords Review of BBC Radio Commissioning
Posted on 5th March 2009
The Radio Independents Group was pleased to be able to submit evidence to the House of Lords Select Committee on the BBC Charter Review. In particular RIG has given insights in to the 'Commissioning of Programming', 'the BBC's Impact on Competition' and 'the BBC's Constitution'.
RIG believes that the BBC is unfairly with-holding commissioning opportunites from the independent radio productions sector, and that a fair playing field between in-house production units and indies does not exist. It is now time for the BBC to start increasing it's voluntary quota from the measly 10% to 25% of production spend, in line with TV and online production.
